About the RRVGG
Hello, and welcome to the domain of the Red River Valley Gaming Group. We've been gaming for many years together, and have had the pleasure of gaming with guests on many occasions. Players come and players go - but the RRVGG has always remained the same. Our trademark is detail, detail, and role play as opposed to roll play.
As the logo above suggests, the RRVGG specializes in RIFTS, the popular role playing game from Palladium Books. We do not, however, limit ourselves to gaming in this one setting. We have been known to play Beyond the Supernatural, Ninjas & Superspies, and Nightbane - also from Palladium Books, in addition to Dungeons & Dragons 2nd & 3rd Editions, Werewolf, Vampire the Masquerade, Streetfighter, and Shadowrun.
From the Winter of 2005 to the Summer of 2007 the RRVGG was an official gaming club, recognized in the region, and given special privileges by Mark Erdmann of Hobby Hut in Moorhead MN. Our game club suffered it's own "crisis of treachery" that summer, however, when a disenchanted player opted to go to Hobby Hut and badmouth the game club, the game location, and our membership in general. All of this - because he wanted to split our large game club into two separate clubs, a proposition that was unanimously declined. While there he removed our recruitment flier, our "Save Palladium Books" flier, and our sample newsletter - and proceeded to try to recruit members for a new game club. In the interests of my family and associates I resigned as club president, and with no other parties interested in stepping up to the job, the club was summarily disbanded that summer.
If you are in the Red River Valley, and are looking for a game group to join, we are always on the lookout for additional members. We game in Halstad Minnesota, on a regular basis, which is a 35 minute drive from the F-M Metro area.Who are we?
"It's hard to stop Muggles from noticing us if we're keeping dragons in the back garden - anyway, you can't tame dragons, it's dangerous." - Ron Weasley
I start with this quote for my opening for a few reasons. Firstly, because I'm a Harry Potter Fan, and even more than that, I'm a huge fan of dragons. Imagine what it would be like to have a dragon in your back yard? Wouldn't it be fun? I'm sure dragons would be very hard to tame though, even the tame ones could slip up sometimes. My name is Angelina D. May. I live in Halstad MN, and I am 29 years old. I have played RIFTS for 10 years now, and have enjoyed every moment of it. It has given me a way to step into a realm of fantasy, yet a similiar realm that is like our own. I've played many different Characters in RIFTS, from humans to dragons, and many things in between. My favorite character is Alekesis Dromana, known as Alexis Parkhurst to most, a Chiang-Ku dragon hatchling. She was my very first character that I made and I love her to pieces for many reasons. Her story line is long and complex but it has made her who she is today. Ten years later she is 25th level, has 2 insanities, and is always struggling with being but a child as a dragon, but living the life of an adult human. It's been so fun playing her, and I hope everyone who has played RIFTS has that one favorite character, for you will cherish them always. To the RRVGG; I love you guys! Thank you for all the Memories!! I look forward to making MANY more!
My name is Anthony V. May, I am 56 years of age, and I have been gaming since the mid 90s. Originally I really didn't want my son, Edward, to get into role playing games at all, because of all of the bad things I heard about them in the 1980s. Then during an argument with my son, my wife Tammy suggested that I join in a game to try it out. I didn't think it would amount to much, but I was hooked from then on. My favorite character is Haywood who was born son of Peony Hoofhearted, a nez-Perce Medicine woman who later was killed by a wandering band of Dog Boys led by a Psi-Stalker. This was done through torture - all witnessed by a young Haywood - thus sparking his life long hatred of Psi-Stalkers, Dog Boys, and all things Coalition. Since then he has learned to mistrust the legal system and lawyers in general. This has made him the original rebel/non-conformist - always mistrusting and questioning all authority.
Hello my name is Ben Gruett I am 25 years old and I'm originally from Zimmerman, MN. I have been table top gaming for around 15 years after having started when I was around 10 years of age. My experience began with the Star Wars RPG, then went over to AD & D, and then finally settled on RIFTS - and have been playing RIFTS ever since. :) I have only been gaming with the RRVGG for a few months now but I have enjoyed my gaming with them immensely and hope to continue gaming with them for a very long time.
My name is Edward A. May also known to the web as SirTenzan. I've been gaming since 1991, when the Knoell family first introduced me to RPGs at the tender young age of 13. I loved it, and have been hooked ever since. My favorite system was also my first; RIFTS. While I mostly GM for RIFTS now, I also enjoy playing it whenever I can. In the past I've played Ninjas & Superspies, Nightbane, BTS, D & D 1st Ed., AD & D 2nd Ed, Streetfighter, VTM & Werewolf.
My name is Jan Knoell, my gaming or role-playing experience is: 1988 AD&D, 1991 Rifts, Ninjas & Superspies, Marvel, Werewolf, Street Fighter, Nightbane, GURPS, Shadowrun, and Palladium RPG, and Hero's unlimited, both as a player and a game master. My personal stats are; I am a 6' 4", 225 lb., fifty year old with salt and pepper hair (Which used to be jet black.) and brown eyes. I have 2 bad knees both from head-on car crashes, (Neither of which were my fault.). I have been married to a wonderful woman for the last 30 years, we have 3 children 2 boys and 1 girl, and we also have 4 grand children 2 of each. I live in Crookston, MN and work at New Flyer of America, where we build buses for several major and minor cities in both the USA and Canada. My particular job is the installation of components for the rear brakes. In the 70s I spent 2 years in the ARMY, working with the Pershing 1A nuclear missile system both as a missile crewman and as an infantryman/truck driver. At this time I have a very small collection of swords and knives, which naturally I got into thanks to role-playing.
My name is Levi Fuglseth, I am 21 years old, and I have been gaming on and off for the last eleven years. When I'm not gaming, I work at New Flyer of America in the Engine department located in Crookston MN, the same city in which I live. I look forward to old age for the sole reason of constipation so I have time to finish my Shopper. I AM Levi Fuglseth.
Growing up, I used to think gaming was for losers and nerds, but in the past couple of years I've learned that it's not. I've been gaming for almost two years and it has dramatically changed me life. I suffered from a severe case of depression and gaming provided a healthy release for me. It also helped me to meet many new friends. If it wasn't for gaming and the wonderful friends and times it has brought to me I can honestly say that I probably would not be here writing this. Gaming saved me from my own little hell and helped me find the man I plan to spend my life with, which in turn gave me my beautiful daughter. It is not only thanks to gaming itself however, but also the two people who led me through the dark shadowy path to it, my best friends Edward & Angelina. Thank you both very much for all you've done for me!

My name is Patricia May, I am 17 years old, and I have been part of the RRVGG for about 2 years. I got involved in gaming because I basically grew up around gamers, watching and learning about how the game works. My mom, dad, and brother were all involved in gaming and so as I grew older I began to understand more about what gaming is really all about. I've always had a big imagination and gaming is just one way I've learned to use it. Besides all that, I needed a new hobby and role playing games fit perfectly.Members New to the RRVGG
