According to Elven myth, there was once a little known god which loved Unicorns very much. He actively sought after every Unicorn he could find, and captured them, caging them and keeping them against their will. The gods of light in the myth, decided that they needed to punish this love struck diety, for holding these beings of power against their will, and so one night - a trickster magic user of their number snuck into his pens, and unleashed a magic ritual which forever changed these Unicorns into a new race of beings. These beings were not the beautiful graceful creatures the god had once loved - for they were altered in horrific ways. Their skins and fur changed from a beautiful white to pitch black. Their horn changed to black onyx, and six inch long black spikes sprouted from their bodies, protruding in every direction. They also sprouted long black, bat like wings from their shoulders. The love struck diety called them "Sagla" which translates from Dragonese/Elven to "Lost Loves", and released them from their pens. This story has been told for untold millenia among Elven and Titan kind as a measure to relieve the pain of losing a loved one.
Despite this stories practical purpose in Elven and Titan society, there is some actual fact behind it! The Sagla are altered Unicorn, cursed by the gods themselves, as punishment to Zelgrakan for imprisoning these creatures of beauty. This is as far as the common story goes, but the scholars among their kind remember the rest of the story. Zelgrakan felt true remorse for what he did, and created a crystal from his tears, to free the Sagla from their curse. Before he could do this however, he was caught up in a major battle, and Zelgrakan was killed - the crystal lost forever. It is told that the crystal if found, could be used to lift the curse on all of the Sagla, if but one of them is captured and held, and then struck with the crystal.
The Sagla are a truly demonic creation, being a very twisted version of what they once were. They are all dreadfully evil, they are carnivores, and will fight tooth and nail to keep from being captured by anyone - so much so that it is an obsession. If their M.D.C. is depleted, the Sagla will grin menacingly, and their horn will begin to glow - all at once, the beast will explode! There were originally only 20 Sagla, however these cursed creatures actually have the ability to reproduce and so have increased their number from their original 20, to nearly 1,500 over the course of the millenia.
