Monsters of New Haven

by Edward A. May

Here are the monsters commonly found only on and around New Haven. Originally these were displayed freely on the Monsters page of the RRVGG web site, now, because of pending projects with Palladium they are placed here exclusively for the benefit of the RRVGG.

Bliminy: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven

The Bliminy is a bizarre plant monster encountered occasionally on Vancouver Island - the seat of the Republic of New Haven.

Boqs: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

A creature of Bella Coola myth that resembles the traditional Sasquatch but closer to human proportions - with one truly distinguishing feature - a twenty foot tentacle growing out of its midsection. (In addition to certain abilities...)

Claw Hunter: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

The Claw Hunters are a primitive ancestor to the Crab Warriors described in the CS Navy book. The only family unit of Claw Hunters known to exist on RIFTS Earth is migratory and goes between New Haven and the mainland coastline at certain intervals.

Ichthyosaurus: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

A pre-historic creature that resembles a reptilian dolphin. While not of very much danger to humans and humanoids, it can occasionally attack them. It is common to the coastal waters of the Pacific.

Liopleurodon: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

This horrifying reptile is THE alpha-predator of the waters surrounding New Haven and throughout the Pacific Ocean. While common in this sea, it is only just beginning to move into the Indian Ocean. In time, it will also make the trip to the Atlantic.

Matlose: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

A terrible creature of Nootka myth that drives men mad with terror and continually creates schemes to cause trouble. They are a disgusting and loathesome lot - but can literally be made ill by displays of affection!

Shonisaurus: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

Another predator of the waters of the Pacific, this is a large Ichthyosaur very closely related to Ichthyosaurus.

Thetian: Written by Edward A. May - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

An aquatic freshwater creature of magic that spends all of its life in obscurity unless someone inflicts harm upon its lifelong mate. This rare race of creatures has existed on Earth for untold eons - but only surfaces to deal with humans in the event of the death of their mate.

Vancouver Horror: Written by Jan E. Knoell - excerpted from RIFTS World Book A: The Republic of New Haven.

The alpha-predator of Vancouver Island (New Haven), this saber-toothed cat makes the real deal look like an innocent pussy cat. They're vicious, smart, and damn tough to kill.
