Wa-Daisho Crops Price List

This page is intended to show some of the products available in Wa-Daisho and to describe the packaging that they may be purchased in. Although not necessarily key to a campaign, such details are handy to have if you are a detail oriented Game Master.

Fruit, Berries, and Nuts

This section is intended to elaborate upon the specific fruit, berry, and nut products available in Wa-Daisho - both those produced on the island, and those imported from other locations.

These products are available in a number of different mediums. The first method is for them to be sold in bulk - meaning that they are sold according to weight, as fresh fruit, berries, and nuts. These are placed in bins in the open market, in grocery stores, and similar and are scooped up and bagged - and paid for according to the total weight desired. There are quite a number of independants that produce fruit that is sold in this manner, only the most major of which I will bother to include here. Van's Vineyard & Orchards, Adison Brothers Inc, Haimes Family Farms, Ferosinai Farms, Richardson Inc, and Deepwood Farms.

The second method these fruit products are available in is by canning. Pretty much all canning in the Republic is conducted by Smithe Corp - thus pretty much all the cans available in Wa-Daisho are the same generally in appearance. (The same save for a logo across the bottom that indicates the farm of origin for the product.) That is to say that they are all concocted of thin tin, are roughly rectangular in shape, integrate a key into the can top, and allow for a 250 gram (0.55 Lb.) product weight within. (Note that the cans are labeled as 250 gram, but that implies the maximum weight capacity of the can rather than the actual weight of the can.) Fruits or berries canned in these cans are usually cut into quarters and then suspended in a medium of juice from those fruits. These same cans are also used to can quantities of dried fruit, roasted nuts, and unroasted nuts. Larger cans, similar in appearance, with a 1 litre product capacity, and a foil seal over the two top nozzles are used for juices.

Preserves is another medium for fruit to be sold in, in Wa-Daisho. It is commonly used to compliment bland food, to use in the making of desserts, and in cooking. There are a few different brands mentioned below - each being a bit different from the other. Smithe Corp's preserves are cheap and common, but not the best stuff around. It's often rather bland and uses a jellied juice base with bits of fruit added to it. Haimes Family's Finest is not as common, and is a little bit more expensive. This brand is extremely chunky, with lots of recognizable fruit that is scarcely crushed let alone "jellied". It is also very lightly sugared, choosing instead to focus more on the flavour of the fruit in question than on the sweetening added. Thus occasionally it can seem tart, but it all depends on the batch of fruit used in it's making. Adison's is on the exact oposite spectrum of those traits. The fruit put into their varieties is well ground into a free flowing "goo", and is a considerably sweeter variety - with plenty of added corn syrup to sweeten it. Dragg's Fruit Pitch is ground fine like Adison's variety, but it is not heavily sweetened artificially. This is due in large part to it's one defining characteristic - it is dried for a period after grinding so that it is thick, and pitch like - hence it's name. This drying period makes it naturally sweet. Thinman's Tangy Treat is available only in Blueberry and Cherry varieties, and is most commonly found in Angel Peak, but can occasionally be found in Wa-Daisho City as well. This is very much like Smithe Corp's standard preserves - but with a tad more fruit in it and the jellied fruit juice is replaced with a jellied Cherry or Blueberry Brandy!! Smithe Corp jars their brand, Adison, and Haimes Family Farm's products in clear glass jars with metal lids. Thinman jars their product in old Smithe Corp jars, ironically enough. Dragg jars their product in their own self fired earthenware jars, with a wax lined earthenware screw top lid!

    Vegetables

This section is intended to elaborate on the specific vegetables available in the Republic of Wa-Daisho, and the mediums in which they are available in. There are three primary mediums, bulk, canned, and jarred.

Bulk - is the same as mentioned with fruit, vegetables sold according to the weight of the vegetables you intend to purchase. These are sold in this method in the grocery stores as well as in the open air market. Canned is of course vegetables stored in a water medium to preserve them until such a time as they can be utilized. Smithe Corp conducts ALL of the canning in the Republic for vegetables, with the same basic can as mentioned under the fruit section, complete with the key. The last form, is of course jarred - again the most common jars available in the Republic are those that are used so frequently by Smithe Corp. Most commercially produced products thus will be in the standard 500 gram clear glass jar that Smithe Corp utilizes. (Herbs and spices are sold in 100 gram clear glass jars with metal lids!)

There are some additional products produced from vegetables and such that will also be included in this section. It's bound to be long, but that is to be expected.
