Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart.

S-Mart is a relatively recent label found at various shops throughout the Free Nations of North America, as compared to Wilks or Northern Gun at least. Despite it's relatively new appearance, as it was started in only 113PA, it is remarkable how quickly it's high quality product list expanded. The secret behind this meteoric climb to mega-corp status is deep set in the roots of Desert Star's founding, and the discovery of Project Archive.

The founding of Desert Star on the location of old Salt Lake City was no coincidence or stroke of luck. The idea never even occurred to the adventurer of renoun, Ace Ripley, until after he had found the secret under Salt Lake City. That secret was a research and development compound that also served as an archive for state of the art technology from around 2020 to 2095 - the true golden years of the golden age.

Ace Ripley knew that the only way he would be able to keep the Archive to himself, would be to surround it with a powerful force that could repel any but the most determined invaders. This would allow him to bide his time, and sell off this technological treasure trove little by little to the highest bidders.

The high technology pre-cataclysm plans being offered on the market eventually attracted the attention of the Coalition States for a variety of reasons, prompting them to plan an invasion of the budding Kingdom of Desert Star. In 110PA Coalition Special Forces units conducted a surprise attack that resulted in the capture of the Kingdom. During their month and a half occupation they committed countless attrocities against the peoples of Desert Star and copied countless technological details for their own use. Before they could complete their rape of the AI's entire archive, the Tenzan Elite managed to liberate the Kingdom from the clutches of the Coalition States.

In the aftermath of the occupation, King Ace Ripley realized that his initial plan had failed. This realization prompted him to decide to build a powerful army to defend his Kingdom and with it Project Archive. This new army would be supplied by high technology weapons that were considered state of the art at the end of the cataclysm. To supply this new army with these radical weapons, he would have to start a corporation of his own. This corporation would be called S-Mart, named after the legendary assassin Silk, an assassin whom many assassinations of CS High Brass have been pinned to.

Today, S-Mart is a major market leader in many fields of technology. With the near 100% monopoly on the military market in the Free Nations Alliance, S-Mart has much room for research and development - a promising fact for the future of the Corporation.

A note regarding the production number lists of military vehicles. S-Mart functions entirely on the concept of production to meet demand. If the vehicle type is presently in production, costs and such remain the same regardless of how many are ordered and purchased. If it's out of production, however, and someone approaches them and says they want X number of this vehicle, S-Mart will work it into production within the next six months somehow or other - regardless of whether it's been out of production for 5 days or 5 years.

  • Ordering 1-9 vehicles: During the Tolkeen War (July 117PA-September 119PA) S-Mart would not even consider opening up production on an order this small. Before this time the wait would be up to a maximum of 6 months. After September of 119PA, the wait is much less - 2-4 months maximum. The time for production would be 2 days per million credits of the finished vehicle cost. In addition to this a "limited production cost modifier" of 30% is added to the base cost of EACH vehicle. (ie. Larsen's Brigade orders 6 S-Mart Maxwells. Base cost is 162 million credits, meaning that it will take the limited production line 324 days - 6 day work weeks - to produce the order, taking precisely 1 year and 2 weeks to complete it. Total cost for this service is then 210.6 million credits - PLUS taxes.
  • Ordering 10-59 vehicles: During the Tolkeen War S-Mart could open a mass production line for orders of this size after about an 8 month wait. Before this time the wait would be a maximum of two months, about the same after the war. The time for production would be four million credits worth of work a day, based on the finished base vehicle cost. In addition to this a "limited production cost modifier" of 25% is added to the base cost of Each vehicle for orders of 10-19, 20% to orders of 20-29, 15% to orders of 30-39, 10% to orders of 40-49, and 5% to orders of 50 to 59. (ie. Larsen's Brigade decides instead to buy 36 Maxwells. Base cost is 972 million credits, meaning that it will take the light mass production line 243 days - 6 day work weeks - to produce the order, taking a little more than 10 months to complete it. Total cost for this service is 1.117 Billion Credits - PLUS taxes.
  • Ordering 60+ vehicles: This constitutes putting the vehicle into full mass production, without any additional fees save for the base cost of the vehicle and any customizations the purchaser requests.
  • Ordering 100 or more vehicles: This constitutes a 2.5% price off of the total price of the vehicles being purchased - thereby encouraging LARGE orders.

The weapons and civilian vehicles are regularly rotated for production so as to keep a fairly ready supply of these available.
