The Allied Naval Fleet was a joint venture between Desert Star, Wa-Daisho, and Kyatashiro that began eleven days after the founding of Wa-Daisho. This venture, was to create a Joint Naval Force of vessels and personnel from all three countries, that would act on behalf of all three nations and any other nations that would join later. The mission primarily at that point was thought of as a defensive one, mostly to counter the Coalition States in the event of attack.
In the very beginning all of this was only really on paper. Desert Star at the time had no real military to speak of, and at the time only had limited Industrial capabilities, through Capos Industries. Wa-Daisho's Military was dependant upon the defensive capabilities of it's Tenzan Elite, and it's two aging Triton class Patrol Boats, and could only plot it's future involvement in the Joint Naval Force, in the future - thus the early stages really began as a story about the Imperial Navy of Kyatashiro. Kyatashiro, a mysterious Shogunate of the North Atlantic, was vastly powerful in it's ability to create ships and supply seamen capable of operating them on the high seas to great efficiency.
By the time of the establishment of the Joint Naval Force, the Imperial Kyatashiro Navy was already in the process of building an incredible fleet of warships. Twelve patrol boats, four armed frieghters, and a missile cruiser flag ship composed the core of this new fleet at the time. Meanwhile, the Imperial Kyatashiro Shipyards was in the process of producing a whole new batch of vessels, several of large capital classes being represented - all for the I.K.N.. In an effort to bolster interest in the Joint Naval Force however, Hachiman ruled that several of these vessels then under construction would be allocated to the Joint Naval Force - thus were the beginnings of the Allied Naval Fleet.
Wa-Daisho's first actual involvement in the Joint Naval Force, was the allocation of 450 troops to the JNF-6 Thresher, a Battlemaster class cruiser, on February 12, 109PA becoming combat ready on September 8, 109PA.
Since it's founding in 107PA, the A.N.F./J.N.F. has seen service in a protective role on many occasions defending against sea monsters mostly, but a few actual wartime skirmishes. It's first blood in such a battle was late in 110PA, a pair of Splugorthian Sea Skimmers entered the mist shroud around Kyatashiro. The JNF-9 Stingray (Javelin), JNF-5 Tiger (Battlemaster), and a quartet of Whitesharks went to meet, and ward away these foreign warships but were instantaneously engaged. The sea battle was short, and very brutal that saw one of the Skimmers blown in half within five minutes of fighting against the Stingray, and the other Sea Skimmer limping home with every major weapon on board having been destroyed by the lighter vessels engaging it. (Splyncryth just shrugged off the loss, and canceled all other slaving expeditions to Kyatashiro.)
The second major confrontation was more of an encounter than a battle. The week after the JNF-14 Dalmir was commissioned on August 29th, 115PA a large number of vessels began skirting Wa-Daisho's territorial waters, to the West of the island. The Dalmir, Stingray, Thresher, Akersley, and a quartet of Whitesharks, along with the Sea Wolf and Poseidon approached this unknown fleet to find themselves faced with a quartet of Destroyers, two missile cruisers, and none other than the USS Ticonderoga. Fortunately, no one started shooting before asking questions, and ended within a few hours, rather uneventfully with the New Navy vessels changing course to be traveling outside of Wa-Daisho's territorial waters.
During the interim period between major encounters, on May 1, 116PA the Joint Naval Force officially changed to the name Allied Naval Fleet, and all of it's ships recommissioned as A.N.F. ships. This was done in an effort to show that not just two nations were joined in the making of this Naval Fleet but all of these nations together resulted in it's existance.
The Joint Naval Force was called to battle for a third time, for the first time under the new title of Allied Naval Fleet, in what has come to be known as The Battle of St. Lawrence, and generally considered the largest sea battle between human nations since the Second World War. On July 25th, of 116PA the government of Free Quebec had engaged in a secret mutual assistance treaty making it a member of the Alliance, in premonition to a major Coalition attack. Barely two months after the signing of the treaty, the body of the CS Navy began maneuvers that would take it into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. At that moment a large portion of the Free Quebecois Navy was hiding between two islands off of the mainland coast. The maneuvers of the CS Navy were so unexpectedly aggressive, that the Quebecois naval units had no opportunity to escape. Any movements of any kind were liable to draw the attention of the CS Fleet and end the war for the Free Quebecois Navy - their only option was to call on the Allied Naval Fleet. Over the next two hours the Quebecois navy sat and sweated, waiting for the secret weapon their commanding officers claimed was soon to be arriving. While this was occurring, the larger portion of the A.N.F. was assembling in two different parts of the world. One location, south of Kyatashiro, and one west of Wa-Daisho - was the site of both Dalmir class carriers - with the remainder of the fleet at their backs. Once in position, TW RIFT Generators on board of the Dalmir class carriers, opened up a RIFT through which they and the Allied Naval Fleet passed through - arriving a scarce 10 miles away from CS forces, on the opposing side of the island they were passing by. Shortly after, the main guns on the Stingray blind sided the CSN-85 Lone Star with a full gun barrage, thus a twelve hour battle royal between the ANF and CS Fleets was underway. CS ships were being blown from the water over and over again by the Stingray - the worlds ONLY known true super battleship of the time. Aircraft from the CS carriers and ANF carriers battled furiously in the air over the Gulf - and small vessels on both sides darted through both formations fighting each other, and trying to disable the larger vessels. In the end, the CS Navy was soundly defeated in the surprise attack. Nearly half the vessels in the CS fleet were lost including the CSN-85 Lone Star, CSN-82 Quebec, CSS Texas, CSS Ranger, CSS Mactier, CSS Citadel, CSS Sabre, CSS Samuel de Champlain, CSS Shark, CSS Hammerhead, CSS Seawolf, and CSS Skullfish. In addition to these losses three dozen Wave Demons, sixty four Barracuda, and eighteen Hurricanes were lost in the sea battle. The remaining CS fleet was also in serious shape. The most notably damaged vessel was the CSN Chi-Town which had to be towed back to friendly waters, heavily listing towards the stern.
This isn't to say that the ANF came out unscathed. Several ANF aviators lost their lives in the melee above the ships below. Four ships were lost, including three Whiteshark and one Blackshark class patrol boats. The ANF-5 Thresher was so badly damaged that when it returned it capsized in Kyatashiro Harbor - taking nearly six months before it was back up to full spec. The ANF Blue-Gull was also heavily damaged in the battle as well - forcing it's aircraft to land on the ANF Yellow Submarine's deck. Despite the losses inflicted on the A.N.F., it could be viewed as nothing but a victory for the Alliance.
After the battle, the CS high command was so infuriated that they insisted that the fleet met up against Splugorthian ships and aircraft - not an 'insignificant fleet' like the Allied Naval Fleet. Upon return the ANF received a heroes welcome - the CS military had for the first time in history, reached a sound defeat on the open sea - and it was at the hands of the ANF. Shortly after this defeat, the Allied ambassadors in Free Quebec were arrested as criminals who consort with demons, and were to be killed for this crime. Secretly, these ambassadors were whisked away to their countries of origin - with a whole hearted thanks from the Prime Minister for the Allies involvement that may have saved Free Quebec. On a more somber note, he admitted that his alliance with the non-human kingdoms may have been a bit premature - Free Quebec simply was not ready for such a jump in relations, and with a heavy heart he dismissed all further relations with the Alliance.
In the aftermath of this titanic sea battle, the CS has done little against the Allied Nations - and have instead taken to erradicating it's closer neighboring threats so that it may focus all of it's attention later on the more distant Allied Nations. Meanwhile in the Allied Nations, the Allied Naval Fleet's mission has changed little - it protects the Allied Nations on the seas, protects the shipping, and protects the vessels that are permitted into it's ports. It is possible that the Allied Naval Fleet may be involved in the Tolkeen war in some way, most likely in the form of a strategic assault on either the Naval ports in Lone Star, or on Iron Heart from Hudson's Bay.
